As much as our Indian summer tried to fight it, fall has finally arrived. The City of Portland had an astonishing 51 consecutive days with no recordable rain this summer, which is a warm memory we will hold tight to as these soggy fall months give way to the impending icy winter days.
So what does fall mean to us at PJS? Along with the beauty of trees changing colors, the scent of wood burning fireplaces and the taste of fresh apple cider, fall means a slightly louder, less busy atmosphere here in the office.
As one of the few employees who rarely travel, I witness the pace in the office change throughout the year. Between April and September most people are constantly coming and going, heading here or there, working this or that event. The office can seem very quiet during golf season which is a strange contrast as quiet is not to be confused with slow. But now that we are out of the hustle-and-bustle of the busy tournament season, the office has more people in it on a regular basis.
So fall is here. And like the fog, people are slowly creeping back to their offices, catching their breath and recapping this year’s summer projects. Work is already underway for 2013, and although we wearily wait those wicked winter months ahead, most of us are simply enjoying the magical fall foliage and the friendly chatter echoing through the office hallways.
