During this time of year it’s always nice to give to back to those in your community. It is now more than ever that I am grateful to be a part of a company that believes so much in charitable contributions – and never was it more apparent than yesterday morning.
At yesterday’s news conference, 77 nonprofit organizations got a welcome holiday boost, as they received funds generated from the CVS Caremark Charity Classic during a presentation held at the CVS Caremark Customer Support Center in Woonsocket, RI. The tournament, Rhode Island’s largest charitable sporting event, raised an astounding $1.2 million this year for charities across Southern New England, bringing the total funds raised since it’s inception to more than $16 million.
Present to award the funds raised by this year’s tournament – which draws some of the world’s best PGA and LPGA golfers – were CEO of CVS Caremark Larry Merlo, and PGA TOUR Professionals and CVS Caremark Charity Classic co-hosts Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon. Funds raised by this year’s CVS Caremark Charity Classic will support the missions of a multitude of charities, in turn, touching the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Though PJS and CVS Caremark partner to organize and produce this annual event, it is really through the support of the community and it’s dedicated volunteers, businesses and spectators that make this all possible.
And I feel lucky to be a small part of helping so many.
Happy Holidays to all!
